    Default Brother's elite is poorly

    Car is a 55 plate 1.9 150 cdti.
He's away atm visiting family in Cardiif.
He's been out in in last night while down there and its got the battery light on the dash. He's managed to limp it back to where he's stopping, it had all sorts of lights come up on dash, heavy steering etc.

Im miles away from him in, so pressuming alternator has/ is failing.

He's been back to it just now and it starts, theres no battery light on it atm, but he has no heaters, HRS, and when rev'ed he's getting lots of warning lights on the dash. Its only been started where its been parked up, not moved.

Hopefully it won't be to long a trip back with the AA tomorrow.
But you think all these other faults will be just down to the alternator not working?
Gonna hopefully be able to get a replacement tomorrow, what sort of money do they go for???

i had a similer fault on my old vec b, it was the alternator overcharging the battery. was ok on idle, but as soon as you revved it battery light would get brighter with revs, and dials would start flickering, warning lights coming on etc

Will check with a multi-meter myself when the car arrives, might just get a alternator on order tomorrow just incase.
Any idea on a rough price just so I can prepair him for the bad news.
Fitting will be foc as i'll be doing it.

the belt should be on as there would be no difference when revved

but defo a bad alternator, probably the regulator which on some units is replaceable
