if I wanted to change my windscreen and not use the insurance company, how much does windscreen fitting cost on one of our cars?

An arm and a leg at a guess.
The place we use (Dial a Screen Emsworth) quoted me £165 for one with a auto wiper bracket.
Thats inc the screen yes.
Not many places will fit secondhand bonded screens anymore as they regs were tightened due to it being a structural part of the car.
Could allways give them a ring if its a cash job
Why not go through the insurance ? Surely your excess is only £70-100 ?
where would you get your screen from ? As some installers may refuse to garantee screens they don't supply.
i don't want to do an insurance job.
As above, phone two or three windscreen fitters and see what they charge for a supplied windscreen
I have to agree though, they may refuse as it has to be supplied
However, they may request you sign a disclaimer that in the event of damage they will not be liable
Windscreen fitters often visit dealerships and fit supplied windscreens, so I don't see why they shouldn't do so
Can you confirm the windscreen still has its OEM cover?
If you take the car and windscreen to them, I would expect to pay about £50
thats kinda what figured.. I have genuine oem screen to go in not one of the crap ones that the big chains supply and lie about. As you say a fitter will go to a dealership to fit a delearship supplied screen so I see no issue in fitting a genuine screen that i supply..
I have a few numbers for some local indys but everybody seems to be on holiday and besides there is no hurry..
