    Default Upper control arms

So many people talk about the upper control arms needing replacing on the back of Signums/ Vectras. Is it actually the arms that require changing or the bushes?

But the arms are a solid piece of metal, how do they break?

every man needs a new bush every now and again

I first replaced my arms coz the inner bushes were worn out.. The replacement arms lasted a year and then the outer bushes on them were knackered, instead of changing the arms again i stuck in some Powerflex bushes so I would never have to do them again. if/when the inner bushes fail i will do the same with them.

It's the bushes that wear out mate. Much easier to replace the arm, than remove and replace the bush

Had to do one of mine last week

I'd rather put the powerflex ones in though so i dont really want to spend money on the arm itself if there's nothing wrong with it. The arms with all the bushes included are are cheaper than the powerflex bushes alone

If you change the arms as I did the first time ou could be back to square one in a year or so. I replace all bushes wirh powerflex ones now. Paulhb helped ke do the rear outer bushes, it did not take us very long at all, in favt far quicker and easier than when we tried to do the arms the first time a year before.

I had bought good arms as well with all the usual recommendations from here.
