Default Stripping a Full Canbus Facelift - Where do I find the TPMS units ?

    Hi Guys,

NOT as per the heading, I will start stripping down a "new" donor Pre-Facelift Full Canbus car later today, purchased because it is just too high spec to let go to a scrapyard without relieving it of some of its assets first

One of the first items I want to remove is it's factory fitted TPMS system, the difficulty is that it is the last of the pre-facelift models and has a Full Canbus rather than a HalfCan. So, where can I locate these units guys and what wiring do you think I should remove just in case I want to retrofit these into another car later ?

The front receiver is in the left hand inner wheel arch fixed to the bulkhead, the rear receiver is fixed on the inside of the rear wheelarch liner passenger side, if its a hatch then the control unit is in the boot cubby hole on the right hand side, the estate has the control unit just behind the left hand rear seat high up on the bulkhead. Take the wiring looms as far as you can and for the rear wheel receiver take the whole rear axle loom to the x5 plug.

Many thanks Paul. Can I just"qualify" with you as to what exactly the rear axle loom is, and as per its description, does it actually lie on the axle and where is the x5 plug ? Or do you mean literally everything, including lighting ?

Do the pre facelifts not need 4 receivers? The facelift only has two - as mentioned by Paul.

The full can pre or facelift have 2 receivers Gaz the offside 2 wheels are detected by the control unit, the X5 plug is under the rear passenger seat but underneath the car and yes the whole axle loom and it is fixed across the rear axle.

Just as Woodpecks is registered in 2004, when he comes to fit it he may need another two recievers depending on when his car was registered (before or after October 2004).

Thanks guys, this sounds like it might be more than just a "tricky" job now that the car is "sitting" in a "field" with no engine lol

Will be giving it my best shot anyway.

    Cheers fellas
