    Default Any plumbers in here?

My Worcester 24i comby went down on christmas eve..initialy hot water intermitent BUT heating working.

    Christmas eve it all died..nothing,zilch,zip,nada.

Thinking it was the pcb board (id had it repaired previously)I took it out and found the power input jack to be loose. Soldered it back and re-assembled. Still nothing.

Just been and bought a brand new board and fitted it...same problem...nowt...

I've got my kids/young adults and its ****ing freezing without the heating on..ANY helpfull ideas?

Any plumbers local to Derby ?im willing to pay...will even change boilers im that fed up with it.

Our Worcester combi has a pop up button on the very top of it that it very very occaisionaly pops for some reason, and it completely kills the whole thing stone dead. No power to the pcb board or anything. Might be worth having a look to see if yours has similar. The first time ours did it, I was prodding about with multimeters and the likes, and turned out to be that.

    EDIT:

I mean the overheat button as per this pic:

Had the same thing happen to me mate, 2 weeks before Christmas, the 30 year old Baxi finally died, and with no new replacement parts available anywhere, I managed to find a brand new Baxi on ebay and got it delivered for £510, a saving of around £400. Obviously then had to get it fitted, but worth keeping an eye open on ebay mate. Here's the guy I got it from anyway just in case he has more, which he claimed originally to get on a fairly regular basis, got to be worth a phone call anyway http://myworld.ebay.co.uk/su1603?_trksid=p2047675.l2559

Good luck for a quick resolution anyway fella

Any message on digital screen? Or no power at all?
Check fuse is one thing i'll check as the amp is low reasons for protection of any gas leak. So my first thing to do is check fuse.

Hot water stopped working before it went dead is a reason why it went dead. Something failed on hot water part cause the whole thing to stop for protective reason.

What is the pressure gauge reading at? If no pressure or low can cause overheat thus blowing the fuse if it did not shut boiler down correctly.

    Will await ur reply

Why do these things always happen at xmas, mine packed up 22nd dec, thank god we had a carbon monoxide alarm in the house as this pointed us to the faulty boiler. Turned out boiler is kaput! not worth fixing 23 year old ideal.
Having new ideal combi-boiler fitted 4th jan, currently 2 seperate boilers for water and heating so still have hot water.
With veccy going in for gearbox rebuild tomorrow and now this, it's one expensive xmas
