    Default eBay wheel bearings

Has anyone used bearings from eBay? I've got a front passenger wheel bearing which is wearing and making a droning noise when driving I've found a kit on eBay which includes new bolts, driveshaft nut and cover for £52.50 delivered would this be ok? Mines a 2007 Sri 1.9cdti 8v. it is the facelift bearing which is Ids+ compatible.

    Thanks

    Stephen

Maybe depends which company you use. I bought a new front wheel bearing kit, it was around £50 and whithin two weeks it was knackered, first I noticed the steering felt vague as though the wheel nuts were loose so I pulled over to check thinking I had been slap dash putting it back together but they were fine, when I tugged on the wheel they were loads of play top to bottom and that was all in under 300 miles I contacted the company and they were tos@ers about it. I had to buy another before they would send a replacement and claimed I was talking rubbish and one of there engineers would check out the returned bearing. I put a sneaky mark on it where they wouldn't notice in case they tried to be awkward but surprise surprise it went missing in the post apparently, so no refund. Because I need my car I had to order another bearing to put in as soon as the old/new was removed, the difference in play while both on the bench was MASSIVE must be real shoddy quality, the replacement bearing was from the same company as I was hoping for a refund. The new bearing has been on a little while but also has some movement on it which I'm not overly happy about considering the opposite side is original and has 110 000 miles on it and is still perfect.
Sorry for the long winded reply but that was my experience. I wonder if I should name and shame.

Does it show the make of the bearing? Most half decent non genuine wheel bearing kits start at about £75-80. I normally fit FAG bearings to cars I have in to fix (only ever use genuine bits on my own)

Cheap ones can play havoc with abs systems too

Unfortunately your contact are wholesalers/retailers, what we really needd to know is who actually manufactured the bearings. Probably does not help you, but lets everyone else know who to avoid.

That makes sense, but at least avoiding these wholesalers it may avoid who made the bearings. Who actually made them I have no idea, sorry.

Totally get your point. Your supplier should be doing all he can to help. They sound as if they are not the correct specifications, therefore not fit for purpose, you must have a case against them.
