Default Facelift Vents in a PreFace ?

Hi guys. Thinking ahead, I'm planning to do something with my Pre-Face 2004 Vectra & NCDC2013 Satnav at some point in 2013. Ideally replace it with a DVD90 if I can find one, but the main problem concerns the vents.

I'm fairly sure that I could just transplant the screen & centre vents from a facelift, but can anyone confirm that the changeover is a "perfect fit" or does the change require sizing mods to make it fit ?

Lastly. assuming the centre vents fit ok, can I similarly swap the side vents froma facelift if I go down this road, are they the same size as far as fitting in the spaces on a preface ?

    Thanks for your help

You need to keep the pre-face trim around the vents as the face-lift ones have got rounded corners. The trim just clips off.

Ah but I wanted to fit a facelift set of vents/trims all along the dash (specifically to allow for a screen change to one of the facelift satnavs), does this mean that it isn't an option ?

You can change the vents but will have to keep the original trims as the face lift trims are a slightly different shape.

We might be talking at cross purposes here. No point in changing the vents unless I need to in order to accommodate a change of centre screen. However, if I do that, I assume the original vent covers/surrounds would not fit the replacement screen, hence me thinking they would need changing to match ?
    Sorry about the confusion

The change of centre screen (I assume you have bought yourself a CD70 Navi) means you will need to carry over the vents and vent trim from the facelift. There will be a gap at the corners though.

I believe YYSNET had fitted the CD70 Navi and screen to his pre facelift.

    Default

I've done this, changed all my prefacelift vents to facelift when I fitted my cd70. No need for cutting or anything they just fit, however they leave a slight gap on the top two corners where the preface were square and the facelift are rounded. Not a major issue. I thought about putting some trim behind but could risk making it more obvious. Hth

So, if I do this mod, I will not be able to have a set of matching left/right side vent covers to go with the centre trim/vents ?
No worries if that is the case, I just needed to get the info into my head LOL.
So an upgraded Nav/Info facelift screen on the pre-face will wind up with me having a mis-matched dash trim then ?

Can you not just get all of the facelift vents (passenger/Centre/driver side) and that way colour will match. I'm not sure how much of a colour difference there is but I think most who have done this mod have swapped all vents over.
