Default Is my fuel consumption a bit on the low side?

The BC on my 58 plate Design cdti 120 has constantly shown and average consumption figure of between 34 and 37 mpg during the 7 months I have owned it. I do a mix of urban and motorway driving.

Performance is ok, but the car does not seem as responsive as the 06 plate Life cdti 120 it replaced and I seem to make more frequent trips to refuel.

My previous car as not fitted with a BC, I just used to fill it up and forget about it and never needed to worry about the fuel consumption; it just seemed to go on forever.

Am I expecting too much or is my fuel consumption on the high side? I realise a lot depends on driving style etc but a friend recently commented that he had not seen his average consumption fall below 44 mpg in 18 months of ownership.

Has it had new filters including the fuel filter & the brakes not dragging at the rear a common fault?

The rear calipers the 2x allen key bolts sit inside a rubber sleeve that sleeve sit's in the caliper which corrodes & nips together the rubber sleeve grabbing the sliding allen key sliders so your caliper sticks.

There is a how to on here for sorting it out, basically remove rubber sleeve and file out the corroded aluminium and put some copper slip on & push back the rubber sleeve and your caliper will slide with ease.
