Best Xenon Headlight bulbs for 2007 Vectra C SRI CDTI?

Hi All, i have a 2007 facelift vectra c sri 1.9 CDTI 150 and am looking to replace the dipped beam healight bulbs. I want some bulbs that are brighter and blue like xenon bulbs. Dont want HID Kit as cant be bothered with all the MOT / No headlight washer fuss!

i believe Phillips look the best?

I think my bulbs are H7 bulbs, is that all i need to know when buying? Do they just have the 2 pins on or are there 3 pins on bulb?

What MOT issues/fuss?

If there aren't any headlight washers or auto height beam adjust, then the tester cannot fail the car. If they're fitted and don't work then it's a failure.

He can only fail the HIDs if they're too blue (don't go for anything over 6000k), or they're out of alignment. If your standard bulbs are aligned correctly then fitting HIDs will also be aligned correctly, unless you don't fit them into the bulb holder properly, but that could be said about fitting halogen bulbs as well.

Your car uses H7 for dipped, and H1 for high beam. Both bulbs have two pins as they're single filament bulbs.

As Big Dave says, there is no real issue in MOT, do a search on the board HID kits are one of the most frequent topics and there is volumes of info.

FWIW factory kits sit between 4300K and 5000K and are the brightest light output, also ensure the dip beam is set high enough as the factory tend to set it well under the height limit for dip beam glare, this alone has the result in improving night vision.

Yes you will need a set with cancellors to avoid the bulb fail warning

Yes easy to fit especially if you remove the bumper (10>15 mins at most)

Yes you will need a drill to cut the dip beam cover to fit the rubber grommet

Make sure the beam is set as high as is legal and any of this type of bulb will do you well. Before HID's I ran a set of 6000K H7 bulbs I got off ebay for £4 they were so good they are now in the wifes Astra and have lasted two years plus.

Can't advise on them as I've never used them. Ad Derek says, first make sure dip beam is set to highest legal position, they all seem to come set far too low. I didn't see the need to go to HiD's, main benefit seems to be in fog, and we don't get much here.
I'm using the Halfords 90%+ (purely because they were doing BOGOF) and have no trouble. Also been told Osram Nightbreakers are good. Any decent 100%+ bulb should do, once height sorted.

Osram nightbreaker plus here, best non hid bulb IMO. Would still like hids though.

After spending loads of money and still not being satisfied with the light output, we came to the conclusion that instead of all the faffing about and money down the drain on bulbs that only lasted a few months, we should have just gone for the HIDs in the first place. We did and never looked back.

Your choice obviously, but your initial argument for not wanting HIDs was because of MOT issues. We've told you there are no issues. So what is the real reason for being an anti HID convert?
