Default Can worn dump valve cause this?

Having trouble with oil at the mo.

When driving around after so long, the engine does not want to pull away, it seems the turbo does not want to boost . once upto speed its fine but the turbo still does not seem to fully boost. Last week i replaced the vac pump after finfing oil in the intake to turbo pipe and breathers. also found oil in the intercooler to inlet manifold pipe which has come from the small breather to the sensor.

Replacing the vac pump has not cured the problem. I think once ive been driving for a while the dump valve is sticking open so the turbo will not boost properly hence the struggle to pull away and at the same time the turbo is sucking oil from the vac pump because the dump valve is sticking open.

    Is this possible?

Ive also replaced both boost sensors - one under the ecotec cover and one by the turbo, with the correct part numbers and the right one in the right place.

Any help would be greatfully appreciated

    regards

    Jim

Also to add, the turbo does not make its usual sucking sound anymore, its more of a whistle now. Ive checked all the pipes including the main one underneith and found no splits.

it could be the turbo itself, which one do you have or what year is the car?

Its a 04 plate 2.0t with the garret. Oil is going through the turbo. The turbo is fine until you come to a standstill. It looks to me once stopped after a long drive, the dump valve sticks open allowing the turbo to suck oil straight from the vac pump. Justbeen talking to father in law who works at a garage for performance cars and he said the exact same thing happens on subarus. Hes ordered me a dv repair kit, hopefully get it next week and ill fit it new years day.

Is there a way to disconnect the dump valve temporarily from working so its not going suck anymore oil through as im about 300 miles from home. Just been out for 10 minute drive and it went through a litre of oil.

thats in the turbo, so it is the turbo thats goosed.. You can have them rebuilt/refurbed but that means a few days without your car on the road etc. if your repair kit works and you do it yourself you will certainly save money.. I would have used it as a good excuse to upgrade the turbo and therefore get a whole load more horses. Good luck with it and let us know how you get on.

Just been had another look to see if i can hold off the oil leak. Found that its also sucking oil the breather from the left hand of the cam cover to the top of the turbo inlet. As i cleaned the turbo inlet, the shaft would move in and out 2-3mm aswelll as turn.

Had planned on the bigger turbo conversion anyway, just not this soon lol.

Hopefully it'll be fine down the motorway tomorow.

    Thanks for the reply nige

I can move the actuator arm and it also moves when reving the engine. One thing i did notice is at around 2000 rpm when accelerating is there would be a slight hestation just as the turbo is about to kick in.
