    Default VXR?

I started off looking for a sensible family car to replace my 2.0 turbo that i've owned for the past 6 years, good economy, plenty of room, cheap tax etc etc...then I stupidly clicked on a link for the lightening silver VXR on here and now my head has been possessed!
I have narrowed my search down to either a nice VXR (which the wife prefers) or a Impreza GB270 wagon..sensible - my arse!?
VXR's are seriously cheap - 09 plate with low miles for 9k, serious amount of car for the cash...but eye watering running costs!
GB270 wagons are also reasonably priced - but i've heard about a few issues with them...one of the guys local to me has a saloon so will quiz him one night..

So a simple option, which one should i buy(if any) - or should i keep mine and Maptun it? Confused - yup!! haha

if you can get the vxr you will never regret it.(specially a silver lightning very very rear impreza 10 a penny).
acres of room, probably a bit more in tax 450ish on that one and daily fuel cost most get around 28mpg combined but well worth it just for the thrills

I personally could not live with an Impreza, Interiors are far too dull and have a cheap feel. And they are prone to bottom end failure (certainly on the 2.0 litres). They also cost a fortune to run, just like the VXR.

Both cars wouldn't be much dearer to run than my current car. VXR would be an obvious choice and obviously I know enough about the Vectra to know they are great cars.
2.5 engine in the GB270's, so a bit thirstier than the old model, but still the amazing handling of the 4x4..
Scotty, aye they are incredible after being mapped and its a cheap way of getting an uber quick car!!

Id imagine a VXR would be slightly more civilized to live with Steven, would be my choice.

go for the vxr bawbag youll love it,just bare in mind you dont buy these cars for fuel economy and youll be fine, ive had the 2.0 turbo as you know and the difference in fuel economy between that and my vxr engined elite is very little, worth noting that yhe latet newer vxr will be 450+ quid a year in road tax, mine is 270 as mine was registered the month before rates went up,if your a vauxhall man then its an easy decision, ive driven scoobys and imo they are over rated and run out of puff whereas the z29net just keeps going;-) z28 net sorry

Gb270 is overpriced, much better to get a wrx and tune it a little.
