    Default Anyone used Tamron lenses

Recently bought my first DSLR camera - a Nikon D3100 and very pleased with the results - thinking of buying a Telephoto lens and this popped up on Ebay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TAMRON-AF-..._qi=RTM1089357 - just wondered if anyone had experience of using one and how it would compare withe thw Nikon one

I'm using a Tamron 18-270 Di II as my only lens. Bought it in New Zealand the same month it was put on the market (I reserved it in advance to get it the same day I landed in Auckland, as they had to bring it from the main store in Christchurch).

Great for travelling (just one lens for all uses) but maybe less sharp than specialized lenses, unless it comes from my old Canon EOS 350D, or maybe some settings to fiddle with...

The stabilizer is really an useful feature, but it can exhaust your battery twice as fast as a standard lens.

It's also not very at ease autofocusing under very low light, because of its relatively high aperture ratio.

the tamron basically use a lower grade of glass compared to the higher end lenses, results in not quite as good colour reproduction altho this is very slight, also as stated above lower performance in low light. Aside from that there is little difference, One problem you may face with that lens is that it isn't stabilized, so at distance you may struggle to get a clear photo unless using a tripod or similar. At shorter range however it would be fine. hope this helps
