Rear interior lights.

Ok, here goes. I hope i'm not repeating anyone elses question.

A few years ago (1995-1998) i had an Astra estate which had the rear interior lights incorporated in the rear grab handles just above the rear doors. From memory the handles look very similar to the Vectra rear grab handles.

This is similar to the Astra grab handle i mention above.



I'm curious to know if anyone knows if this is at all possible as an alternative to the one most people seem to have done which requires cutting the head lining?

I dont know if they are the same size as the vectra, looks good maybe worth a try...

Is there space above the front seat belt on the pillar trim...

Not sure about the size, but being from another Vauxhall, alot of parts are shared between models across many years. Can't see then designing different sized grab handles, after all, the latest Corsa uses the same exterior door handles as the Vectra.

My main concern would be the curtain airbag regarding the space behind the headlining where the existing grab handle is. Obviously the headlining would still need modifying to allow the light to fit.

Having looked at the parts listing on ECAT24, seems like it's not going to work. Might have to have a look in the car later to see if it's possible or not. Would have been a neat mod if it was possible, not keen on the standard rear light mod, but even less keen on the black hole that is the back seat when it's dark & you open the doors.

It might interfere with the curtain air bags too.
