It's called the expansion tank the high point in the system and is an auto bleed device

On your house radiator the flow and return pipes are at the bottom so air can sit at the top(the highest point), on the Vec it cant and always returns to the header. If you go to a large commercial building you may well find that the flow and return pipes on radiators are at the top, this saves someone having to bleed 300 radiators.

No, they used to be before the addition of the header tank where any air now ends up. See Paulhb's reply.

Weird cos i'm a plumber, water inlet at bottom and outlet at bottom still need to bleed rads, same for cooler rad on car both bottom. Surely it should be a bleed valve as air stays at top making it work less effect?

On mine the flow pipe is at the top and the return is at the bottom. I can see where you are coming from right enough.

However how many radiators have a connection from the top corner of them to the expansion tank just like the vectra allowing air trapped at the top to escape to a higher point in the system namely the expansion tank

From memory, a car heater system is high pressurised, whereas a home system is not (pump driven only)
