    Default Is it legal to wear headphones when driving?

    Anyone know the law on this?

    I'm not sure about the law but I'd err on the side if it being illegal.
    I'd imagine a single earpiece would be acceptable but full headphones is doubtful.

    That's the common sense answer... but we know what the law is like!

    struggle to hear emergency services. Probably legal but should be banned, from ALL types of transport including pedestrians.

    I'm fairly sure I read that it's not legal to have earphones in both ears unless you're registered as deaf. One is OK (eg hands free kit) though - as said above, you need to be able to hear sirens and horns. People have been prosecuted for having their music too loud under the same piece of legislation. I'll have a trawl of the Road Traffic and Highways Acts and see what I can find...

    should be effin banned espically for cyclists & pedrestians,walking out in front of cars like zombies,then when you blare the horn at them they give you a 'look' or a mouthful
