    that is a pants top speed isn't it.. i bet it struggled to get it up to 88mph for time travel... lol

    I saw something on tv about them when they got to the states they stripped em down and rebuilt em because they fell apart as they come off the ship

    that does not suprise me at all........
    the wife"s older brother worked on the production line building them......and tbh he could not hammer a nail into the wall without accistance..
    the old factory is only around the corner from me.....

    they built them with the wrong parts they couldnt order the correct stuff in parts department so they used what ever they could get there hands on lol

    Like how it only does 85 mph is it limited in case it hits 88 mph and vanishes

    They are still an iconic looking car in stainless steel. I wonder how many other car flops have still got so much interest all these years later?

    The Americans had a law stating that all Speedometers could only go up to 85mph in a futile attempt to reduce speeding after the energy crisis in the mid 70's

    Most of my cars were pre that era but I had a few late 70's cars they were all that format.

    My 79 Trans Am had a fully rebuilt 6.6 litre engine, at 70mph was turning 2000 rpm in top if I say that once I managed a cruise at 4400rpm with no real effort, the glass T tops off and with much more to go to the redline of 5500rpm you can gauge the top speed despite the poor speedo needle sitting vertically!
