    Default EGR valve

    Recently i have got a new inlet manifold as i have had the dreaded lack of power at low revs, and on inspection the link rod for the swirl flaps was off. (I have a 1.9 CDTI 150 estate) so was a inlet manifold change as this was under warranty. This however didn't solve the problem, i have ordered a new EGR valve but when i took my one off i noticed coiled swarf on one of the bolt threads that goes in to the inlet manifold, this bolt will no longer tighten up. My question is does anybody know if this is just a wire thread insert or is the thread tapped straight in to the manifold.

    Seems like the place that did the manifold under warranty had over tightened the EGR bolt - the manifold can be heli-coiled quite easily though.

    Seen this happen a few times unfortunatly - as well as the boost pressure sensor bolt too.

    As Dan says - simple heli-coil and you will be fine. A possible slightly longer bolt too may work as it often only takes the thread at the start of the bolt hole

    Yeh that is what i thought, do you know the best place i can get a heli coil or longer bolt from?
