Default Virgin Media Super Hub. Your experiences please.

Just had delivered my Virgin Super Hub.

I currently have a 20 mb line which has pretty much faultless linked to a netgear Wireless N router.

Im about to change it over and ring virgin to activate it plus upgrade to a 30mbit for free.

Just wondered what your experiences were (Good or Bad) and can I go back to my old setup if Im not happy with it. Would imagine I have to ring Virgin again to say Im swapping back to the modem and ext router so the MAC address will change etc.

    Cheers

    Chris

must admit, I cant fault VM for their BB service - it absolutely flies where I am, never drops out and very rarely have a problem - in fact i cant ever recall needing to ring them with a problem and ive had it for 7+ years

Well that must have been the most painless install ever.

Plugged it all in and listened to the pre recorded instructions from virgin.

    Now up and ruuning perfectly.

Have to say the Virgin service was extremely good.

Just have to ask them why now they want me to start a new contract as a new customer (been a customer for 7 years)

Was told that would not happen when I called them. Anyhow.

Don't get me started with their super "brick"

Spenny got me a deal on virgin back in March this year, with in the first 2 weeks I had the hub replaced as the wifi stopped working (was never good in the first place) 2nd hub died after 2 months again the wifi was poor and the hub was buzzing, I could only get wifi when in the same room as the hub. On my 3rd hub and it's now just being used as a modem because the wifi was so poor. I've had to spend £100 on a netgear router just to get my home network working. Even with the hub being used as a modem I've had to turn it off and back on every other day because the broadband drops out. Last week it was every day. And virgin have the cheek to increase my bill by £6 a month because they've improved the service.

Have you replaced the Power Supply Unit every time you have replaced the VM Hub??
If so, try plugging the PSU into a different socket, or even use an extension lead, to eliminate possible electrical problems.
