    Angry Engine flood damage!

Has anyone out there experienced problems with Vectra C 1.9 cdti engine water inhalation? We have experienced 2 totally destroyed engines on our company cars caused by driving through water in road. Air intake is fairly low down and vauxhall dealers say it is not uncommon. Is anyone aware of a modification? Boss extremely unhappy due to £5k replacement costs each engine!

    Any info gratefully appreciated!

    thanks

so is it still the case that diesels can drive through water when the engine is completely submerged providing the air intake is above water level?

or is that just on older cars with minimum electrics, and definitely no ECU's to worry about??

I read an article recently written by the RAC and it was advising about driving in poor conditions. They warned against driving through deep water in modern deisels because of the amount of electrics they now have, compared to diesels of years ago.

Quite often it's the vehicle coming the other way which can give you the problem when they submerse you with the bow wave.
