    Default TV licence Question

    Hi all

    Just a quick question

Since I have moved into my first home I have paid my tv fee either over the phone or the Internet (I have never got around to setting up a dd ) I know I should do , anyway as it's not set up as a dd I do often forget to pay and only pay when a reminder comes which I pay over the net as Im Nerly always getting a reminder does this affect my credit rating ?? The letters just say please pay xx Amount as ou have fallen behind I can't see anything which mentions credit rating ect

    Thanks all

They don't have to state whether it affects your credit rating but it may well go against you, best way to check is to get the statutory credit report for £2 and check which payments have been missed and the duration of them being overdue. Although it is much more likely to affect your credit if you set up the DD and it fails go go through by not having enough funds etc.
BTW, you did register yourself on the electoral register at your new address didnt you?

Apparently doing a credit check can affect your credit rating - especially if you do it a few times over several years - or if a credit provider does the check for you if you are applying for credit. Seems unfair but I'm told that's the case!

if you apply for the credit file it wont show up as a credit check, applying for credit with multiple lenders/times will effect your overall credit rating as it will look as though you are using credit to live.
