    Default CORSA - Outer CV joint

    Just looking for a wee bit of reassurance here. Was out with the Mrs last night in her corsa and noticed when turning left that there was a grinding noise, it appeared to be coming from the front n/s and happened when she took a left hand junction in 3rd gear (Let's not get me started on that one). I jumped in and when turning left in 2nd gear there is a clicking so I'm fairly certain it's the cv joint. The drivers side one was replaced not so long ago. So am I right in thinking that the symptoms would tie in with the N/s outer cv being knackered?

    sounds very much like it - easy job to do on a Corsa - try these people if you need a replacement driveshaft http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VAUXHALL-C...item1e5aa98105 - I have used them many times great prices, products and service ( I am not connected with the business)

    That's quite a good price. I was just going to replace the outer joint but might be worthwhile just replacing the whole shaft at that price

    Sometimes getting the shaft out of the box on the corsas is a nightmare had a few that just didnt want to move

    Yeah, just been reading that on the corsa forums. Either way I choose I'll probably have a hassle with it anyway. I seem to have lost my mojo recently for working on cars!

    Yea I had the outer go on a Corsa 1.7 Dti - I find it a lot easier to replace the whole driveshaft complete rather than replacing the joints seperately - I always find it hard to keep the new joints clean when repacking them with grease and you have the job of trying to release the clips/circlips on the joint to release the spline which is also buried in the grease in the first place - lot simpler and cleaner to replace the whole shaft and if one joint has gone the other probably won't be long after

    I've had a few battles with them before - I usually resort to two large tyre levers one on either side and gently lever them out - on the other hand the last one I did it virtually fell out and yet the retaining ring was in place and the new one snapped nicely in place when I put it in.

    Yeah one off lads has got a huge snap on lever bar. You could probably lever whole car off the ground with this thing you tryed lol

    that gets quite a lot of use lol

    Just have to watch you don't damage the alloy casings though
