Let me know how it goes, need the same doing on mine ASAP.
They'll be a mess! I have Dan_Blacksri's old one and he had a new manifold and egr fitted and blanked it all up, it's done less then 6k with a new holed "blanking" plate and they already need a right good clean
I may even fit new and re blank when I eventually run it myself...
new inlet fitted , and wow what a differance - its like a complete differant car lol
How long did it take you? Any issues along the way?
to be honest mate i didnt do it , a mate of mine did it for me - he did the timing belt kit , pump and inlet in about 5 hours . he replaced the antifreeze and cleaned my egr , throttle body and boost sensor while he was at it . the old inlet was a mess , the flaps on the new one are a lot better made . the car is smoother , more responsive and doesnt stink lol . not a job i would take on to be honest - he has done 6 in last few months . no issues at all .
its not that hard to do your self, just when you look at the how too it looks like a nightmare it does take some time though
theres nothing like the pleasure of getting the old one off
Im quite looking forward to doing it and mine doesnt have the vacuum canister to worry about but the only thing ive trouble getting my head around is there is a mention in the how 2 that you need flush coolant to allow inlet removal, i cant seem to see anything cooling system wise in the way of removal or i might be missing something.
Whats the effects long term if you left it without changing it for a while? just thinking getting christmas out the way.
