    Default Springs question

Had the fronts changed due to a fracture in one of the springs in October this year.

Question is, should I leave the rears as is or are they likely to be on the way out. Visually when I inspected them a couple of weeks ago they look perfectly fine no serious corrosion or pitting and no fractures. But part of me says, if the fronts have gone change the backs too?

I saw a pair online for £39ea. and they all seem to sit at about £40>50 would these be OK price wise

I am not going to change all 4 for Eibach jut the rear to keep things safe and level

Recently my car had a broken spring and one ready to go so for safety sake and piece of mind I renewed all four with a set of Pi's

I would say not really necessary to replace fronts and back at same time time. Definately change both on same axle though.

I noticed as I put £39ea in my original post but what I was getting at was the fronts had gone, so was it inevitable that the rears are just about to go or will they hang in there a while yet.

You can get sets of springs cheap but they are cheap brands I will be sticking to OEM as far as I can see for this car.

I wouldn't think the rears would automatically follow suit Derek as said above - best left until one goes after all chances are that they may have already been changed as a pair sometime earlier in the life of the car. I find KYB springs to be ok - as standard replacements - the last rear ones I replaced on an Astra the coils were nearly twice the diameter of the originals.

Very interesting, thanks Al. I have owned the car since mid 2010 the car is an Oct 07 build the fronts looked visually fine to me but were changed the rears also look fine to my eyes. Will keep the KYB idea to hand though
