Default Alarm voluntarily sounding after approx 15 secs of door locking.

Hello, I have just been presented with a rather mysterious and irritating problem with my 1.9cdti alarm. For some odd reason it has decided to start going off automatically as I walk away from the car. I have checked the sensors in the car and there is nothing interfering with their vision. I have noticed the cruise control has also decided to go on the blink at the stalk. Do you think this could be related electrically? I had the stalk replaced just under a year ago and the cruise control came back to life. I have had the windscreen scuttle replaced and there is no water coming into the car. The alarm issue has only just happened within the last week and I have only just noticed the cruise control not coming on from the stalk. Could this be water related under the hood, I first noticed it occur after a good jet wash at the local valet and also today in heavy rain after I'd parked up? Your views are most appreciated.

So alarm only plays up in damp weather or have I read it wrong?

How did you test the sensors?

The issue seems to be occurring during wet/ cold weather. I have only visually checked the sensors for nothing in front or moving that may set off. I have only owned the vehicle since March and the prob has only just happened in the last week.

I would suggest first removing and checking for any condensation on the sensors.

woild also do same on window sensors.
chances are one of window sensor is getting condensation on an its causing a contact and setting alarm off

Thanks for that. Are the sensors easy to remove, I have never messed with the alarm system before? Also, just read another thread that mentioned the rear windscreen heater/ demister causing issues with the alarm. Mine works but has 2 bars that are non functional, got any thoughts there? Thanks.

The other thing it could be is if the internal sensors are over sensitive and the fresh air vents are open - the sensors work from a change in air pressure within the cabin.
****** awful systems but all manufacturers use it!
