can faulty glow plugs cause limp mode?

Hey guys,
my car is going into limp mode for the first 10 minutes of driving when the outside temp is cold.after driving for a few mins and restarting its fine.Also if i start the car and leave it to idle it cuts out after a few seconds and will do this 3 or 4 times untill there is some heat in the engine.

It doesnt always go into limp mode but the glow plug light will come on and stay on after its cut out untill i restart.

Would fault plugs cause this?

I hooked up my code reader when the spanner light/limp mode kicks in but nothing comes up

try doing a glow plug cycle four times before you start the engine fella as this will help with the cold start.. but it does sound like you have a knackered glow plug but do yourself a favour and either buy from vx or a decent motor factor as antsss had a ebay cheapy break off in the head.. not good!!

ive just orderded some bosch ones from ECP which i will collecting in a bit.

The only thing that confuses me is that when i had a single glow plug fault before(did a resistance test via multi meter and found the one) it only produced the spanner light for a few mins of driving and not the more serious problems ive got this time......unless its more than 1 thats gone this time?
