    Question Automatic Seat Occupency Detection

Hey there I have a 2007 vectra sri150 and I'm just wondering if there is anyway to find out if I have ASOD installed or whether it's possible to get it installed. After hearing the latest news from the other half I'm looking to get a vauxhall child seat and transponder for the front but i don't know whether my car has the detection fitted.

If anybody could help it would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you in advance
    Owen

There's more to it than that - it's all about airbags and not wanting one active with a child seat fitted.

I've yet to see one fitted to a Vectra.

Same with baby seat occupancy, not a standard fit, IIRC.

Best place for baby is on the back seats, IMHO. If they need attention you're more likely to pull over if he/she is is in the back, rather than reaching across to the front passenger seat and getting distracted from your driving.

Open the front passenger door and there should be a sticker on the end of the dashboard which will say if you have passenger seat occupancy detection fitted ('smart' airbag). Also refer to the handbook as this explains how the operation of the airbag light next to the trip counter differs depending on if you have passenger seat occupancy detection or not.

I have a smart airbag because my Vectra is an Elite.

You CAN put car seats in the front, but HAVE to be front facing seats.

Baby seats that are rear facing, it's illegal with the front airbag enabled. (Which will be why the OP started this thread)

If we're out in the Nova or Carlton, my 2 year old HAS to have his seat in the front as the rear seatbelts are not long enough to go round the chile seat.
However in the Signum and Meriva it's still an option but the front seat has to be as far back as possible to get the airbag and child as far apart as possible.

Owen, if you don't have a "Smart Airbag" you can get the front passenger airbag switched off via tech2.

Best place for a child in the car is in the Rear Centre seat though.
