Charging issue , maybe alternator or not

Right guys got a wierd fault on my Signum 1.9 150. Car died earlier so jump started it. It started fine but then driving down the road and everything started to go off until eventually driving along with headlamps flashing. Got home charge the battery for 3.5hrs and now seems fine , except there is no change in voltage where the cars running to when its off (12.2V). Now if it was the alternator I would have expected the battery light to be illuminating reporting an issue.

Am I missing something here? normally when cars running I would expect upwards of 14V and car off 12.5 ish.


So question is is it the alternator without the battery light being on or something else?

Sounds like an alternator problem.mine went last week,only charging at 12.2 volts at most.my battery light came on though.
Alternators on the cdti engines are quite a common problem i have been told!

Next question as I have heated seats should I be looking at the 140A alternator , as I believe the 105A is not man enough for the job. My car is an elite so should have had the bigger alternator anyway , but cannot confirm until I take it off later or tomorrow.

Does it tell u on the alternator what amps it is?? Mines is the basic Sri so I would imagine its the wimpy one, was thinking of getting heated saets so woyld this mean I meed a manly one too for em??
