    Default Vectra cdti 1.9 Sri 120 - 58 plate

Hello I'm going through the motions of buying one if these and I'd appreciate any comments regarding problems to look for, common ones

Would a late 2008 have had the injector alteration that I've read about? Stuff like that would be cool!! Should I get the remapping of the ecu done etc etc

    Many thanks in advance...

look for dmf rattle on clutch, poor performance and smoking below 2000rpm=EGR clean /replace.
Main one for me is M32gearbox problems, whining in all gears (listen very carefully), getting mine rebuilt in two weeks with new bearings which is a common problem.
2008 cars had injector problem sorted.
As for remapping, my 120 has plenty of grunt as should yours if running well. This could also kill the gearbox as has happened with many 150bhp astras as they also have the weaker m32 box (vec 150bhp has f40 box).
With vecs you get a lot of car for your money, but plenty to choose from so just walk away if in doubt.

Thanks for the reply mate... You've made me question my choice though when I test drove this I noticed a lot of smoke, the engine was cold but my 53 zafira puffs a ball of smoke out when it starts then is clear, this one was a bit too smoky also I thought there was a bit of what I thought was turbo lag but these are direct injection so should be perky as soon as pedal is pressed? Yes? Lol!! Before I drove this one I test drove a 56 plate Passat diesel sport with 83000, vectra has 64000 and it responded really well and it felt solid but I went away to decide and the Passat sold... Now I know this is a vauxhall forum but I've now found a 2007 57 VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT 2.0 SE TDI 5 Door Estate @ 93000 miles, looks great, fsh, same price as sri but my question is what should I do? lol this is hard 30000 miles difference but is the Passat the better option? I'd value your input! Cheers

All common rail diesels have the same issues to be honest. I'd advise getting a 2008 / 58 plate CDTI 150. All issues have been sorted and you will get a newer lower mileage car over a VW. The 150 pulls like a train.

Tons of Vecs to choose from so you can pick a good one.

there's nothing wrong with them fella. I currently have 2 150 CDTIs and both been absolutely wonderful with no issues. The fact is that there are by far more of these CDTI Vectras about than any of the other model so stands to reason any foults would be more common.

Yeah it does but I'm paranoid I wake up in the night shouting egr valve!! The 120 should be responsive from the off shouldn't they? No lag? Smoke and lag on this makes me dubious but I like the car... no remapping either re gearbox issue. Oh and can anyone confirm whether these have cam chains or belts. Cheers again all for you help!
