Aye, same with the signum. Having the flat floor level with the rear door also means you can swing open the cage door easily, where with hatch you can't.

The main advantage of the estate is the lack of lip. Our 9 year old retriever can get in my estate with out issue, but really struggled in my hatch and other cars with a lip

Got a lab, shes a heavy dog but gets in and out no probs. u'll need the good dog guard. The kind that attachs to rear head rests. Better than ruining the rooflining and a sore looking legs! This headrest mount only covers the hole and are great!

Thanks a lot guys, much appreciated :-)

I will think about all the pros of an estate over the festive period, if the right car comes along then I might take the plunge :-)

I have 2 choc labs, Had vectra B estate and now a vectra C estate both fitted with Barjo Tailgate guard. Loads of rooms for the dogs. You do loose your boot but 500litre roof box sorts that out.

Great cars. Took my vectra B to 170,000 2.2 dti with out a hitch. Vectra C 1.9cdti currently on 112,000 and even better. Its about the biggest estate you can buy. Nearly went for a Chrysler 300c touring as they are pretty big as well.

Wife has a Ibiza which we are just selling as not big enough for dogs and child. Getting People carrier for her. Plenty of floor space.

you can have a divider besides the one on the rear seats, but also have one the other way, so ½ the boot can be used for the dog/dogs and the other half for luggage.

Estate driver with a 7.5st chocolate labrador. And she loves being in the car and the estate gives her plenty of room to move around
