    Default limp mode,cutting out,no turbo

    Hey guys,

Ive got a problem that only seesm to happen when its cold.

Today i started the car and after about 5 seconds of ticking over it cut out.I then restarted and reversed about 10 feet and it cut out again. It happened again and this time the glow plug light illuminated and stayed on untill i started the car again. It cut out again and this time the spanner light came on and i had no turbo,i could hear it spooling up but it just wouldnt work.

I drive about 10 miles untill i got to a garage(with the spanner light on) and plugged in my code reader but no codes came up.I thin switched off the car and started it and everything was fine.

It definatly cold weather related as i had the same last year but not as bad.

Has anybody got any ideas what it would be?

I thought it could be dodgey glow plugs but they are only used on start up....i believe?? or maybe MAP sensor?

I had a problem with limp home mode coming on a good while back, wasn't to do with the cold but the engine rocking n vibrating caused injector sensor #3 to rub off the top cover and become loose which tripped the limp mode on. Engine might be vibrating more in the cold. Worth a quick check at least.

Ive just had a google search about glow plugs and aparently they are used for a few mins after the car is started and just just on start up like i was lead to believe so that would tie in with the car running fine after a couple of mins of driving

Well light back on today under hard acceleration in 3rd gear got it to garage with light still on and they got a fault code this time. P0105. Map sensor abeiant pressure sensor. He said it's a common fault that be solved by cleaning boost pipes and manifold pressure sensor. But to be honest I've tested the car and under normal driving it's fine I can make the eml come on only if I take it right up to it's rev limit in 3rd or 4th and that said the garage av suggested to leave it as it's not a serious fault because it was the eml would stay on constantly.
