Default HELP!!! 1.9 cdti vectra 150bhp mpg?

    1.9 CDTI 150 BHP 2008 MODEL
    hi all

been keeping an eye lately on my mpg and im only getting around 40mpg. if i calculate it im only getting 450 miles a tank

    tank cost £84 at 60 litres (£140.9)
    450 miles on 60 litres
    12 gallons
    450/12= 37.5 mpg ( **** )
i recently tried to have the car remapped but it didn't take for some reason. ( guy with a laptop, not a shop, but worked on my mates) i took the car to my vauxhall dealer for a diagnostic but came back as all clear. i have started to use red ex, injectors have been replaced due to going faulty. nothing to do with me checking my mpg, tyre pressure is perfect. fsh, trips are a combination of motorway and town for around 20 mins to get to work. plus other trips out. i went to London which is a 100 miles away and on board computer stayed the same and mpg didnt seen to alter hardly.

REALLY LOOKING FOR SOME HELPFUL ADVICE HERE. IM DEBATING WHETHER TO GET A F O R D I LOVE MY CAR BUT THIS NEEDS TO BE BETTER

yes on a long run maybe, ive not reset my counter for a couple months now and im averaging 40mpg

90% of that is town driving with maybe 2 50 mile round trips

on a long run i can get 50+ mpg easy enough

its hard to measure. are the onboard computers accurate? mine says 42.2 but i know from using a full tank and calculating it i cant be. is there anything on the car that i could check or get done which affects the mpg like the egr. air filter is fine. oil is fine.

More to the point, how do you drive it? Mine's **** poor round town but sitting on the motorway with the cruise on at 70 or so will see about 53-54mpg.

its fair to say i like to use my foot but the last month i have driven it perfect due to the weather and the roads i use. change gear before 3000rpm staying at 70 or below using all 6 gears. theres no way i get 53-54 on a motorway. i drive the same distance to work everyday (10 miles) depending on what site im on its either motorway or good open roads at 60mph with the odd turn off. i dont know if its my driving or the car

40mpg equates to approx 530 miles a tank.

Type/Style of driving and journey distances can make a substantial difference to mpg and miles/tank.

I average 40mpg in my CDTI 150 and get a good idea of how economical it is by comparing it to the 25mpg/350 miles/tank I got in my previous Vectra 2.0T, so I have no complaints.
