    Default Corsa service....

Does anyone know what is involved in the 60k mile service on a Corsa?? it's a 1 litre, 2002.

Vauxhall are asking for £200 and i'm going to tell them to shove it so that i can do it myself.

Does anyone know when the cambelts need changing on these little engines?

Popped down to halfords and picked up some oil, engine flush, windscreen wipers, sparks, air filter, oil filter and fuel filter.

anything else i should be swapping at these sorts of miles?

Might want to think about cam belt at that sort of mileage if it hasn't already had one?? The service book should contain a shedule if you have it to hand which details what should be done at what mileage.

nice one Dave....i'll have a look at the handbook. cambelt is the main thing that needs changing at that mileage but i didn't think that it would be part of the service?? maybe i'm wrong.

the garage down the road quoted £180 all inclusive to swap the cambelt.

<insert egg on face smiley here>

this is what happens when you listening to MOT testers!!

i didn't think it did but when the guy in the garage said so i thought i must've been wrong!

and it definitely is the 3 potter - because we've spoken about how they are constantly rattling on their mounts!

going to start looking for its replacement, Sophie wants more power!! can't blame her really.

so i take it the chain doesn't need changing or any other major components at 60k miles?

cheers for the offer John but i've convinced the sensible side of SWMBO that an astra would be way forward, either a 1.6 petrol of 1.7 cdti

either that or astra convertible - which i am quite liking the idea of.

either way - budget of around 8.5k.

vectra is too big for her, although she does drive mine sometimes - but couldn't handle it as an everyday driver, it'd end up with knocks and bumps all over the place.

for some reason she thinks that the wing mirrors are there to protect the car, so it's okay to knock them right off!

i'm exaggerating really, she's not at all that bad.

i didn't get a chance to look through the service book, i know there is one because i've seen it when clearing the car out.
