Eek Anyone fancy changing...Cambelt, Intake, Auxiliary Belt and Water Pump?

    Hey all.

So cars done 110k. Cambelt well overdue and intake manifolds swirl valves got glued shut months ago. Thought I would do all the above at the same time rather than do some of the unbolting things twice, or rather get charged for them.

I priced most bits up, the big bits anyway and asked a local garage to quote me to fit them...looking about £650 ish, not really willing to commit to anything until the cars in bits.

So though I would try dealer today. So £250 for the cambelt, sounds good do far but the rest they needed to price the parts up. I suggested that hopefully some of the labour for each job might be repeated thinking this would keep the price sensible. But having listened to the answer phone message as I was leaving work this is not the case....£1300+. I am stunned!

Anyone want to help me do it. I'll pay cash for labour for someone who has done it before, I would like to learn how to do it, I've looked at how 2 but its a little beyond me alone.

    Suggestions on a postcard?!?

    Tim

If its after Christmas and I'm free I'll happily bob over and give you a hand with the belt, but that's the most I've done on the CDTI so you could do with a 3rd pair of hands also

I did all of the above at the same time and whilst the how 2 looks daunting its nothing like trying to follow the haynes manual, its just time consuming

I've done loads of belts and inlets. I'm by Heathrow so a bit to far I guess.... ? Wouldn't have time to do an inlet this side of Xmas. Belt no problem but inlet is a full days job and I'm struggling for time. Lol

Must have missed that, yeah I will come up if I can. That is bound to promote some money spending, like coming on this forum....I haven't got one of those type situations.

Is there anything I need to replace that is not obvious? Should I replace actuator as well as manifold? I wish I had the confidence to attempt something so advanced, 4 spanner job on the haynes manual I'd guess.
