    About 36psi should be right.
    The general rule is 2 x diameter plus 2psi. = 36pi.

The manual states for a 1.8:
29psi front / 32psi rear for normal driving / load
35psi front / 38psi rear for eco driving
35psi front / 42psi rear for driving with heavy load

I have always done double the rim size +2 and it has always served me well in the past. But having just fitted 2 new tyres to my car I found that it was too much, made the front far too light, when it had been perfect for my old NCT5's. Through a bit of trail and error I found 33 psi gave best feel and handling.

I run 33 on the 17"s fitted to the other SRI, my XP2 is running 34psi. The 2xdiameter + 2 would require 38psi which I consider a bit too high and as Das says,.. feel too light in steering.

It must have some effect as there will be slightly less tyre contacting the road. I might put mine up to 36 and see how it fares. Just running the Shell V Power test to see if it's worth the extra pennies,.. on 3rd tank now so see if I get more mpg
