Default hey guys new here and have a question

I just got myself a 2004 veccy nice car if i say so myself. No history on the timing belt so I baught a timing belt kit from vaux center and also got a water pump its all fitted on.

But there is a problem the belt tention arm isint moving at all the belt is the same size and the water pump is right and the tensioner looks the same. The old one got grinded off cause the bolt crumbled. I checked my order with the epc and seems right. epc says 93185845 for the kit and so does the order. The water pump was right as well. Now I guess im asking if anyone knows if the FAI TB156 is the kit for 93185845 or will I need to buy a seperate tentioner. I cant see it being anything else thanks in advance grant.

ps seen the thermostat howto and done it smashing right up car is lovely and warm obviously I dont want to drive it about with the tensioner like this is there some sort of black magic to get the tentioner to tights the engine is a z18xe thanks for reading a long story.

you cannot set the tensioner with the allen key to the 20mins past position so that the arrow points to the new belt position? This can be tricky to set, you have to set it and then get somebody to tighten the torx stud up in the tensioner pulley to get it to stay whilst you hold the allen key keeping it in the new belt position. Maybe you have already tried this..

Well thats the problem I twist it right round and the tenstion doesnt go up only a little not even to the used belt. Ive ordered a new tensoner from ebay cause the other one isint usable as the nut was grinded off. I hope this works out if not I have no idea what the problem is. Hopefully it was just a mixed up part at packing. Cause the other two pullys are the right size.

Sounds more like the belt is fitted incorrect

the last tensioner looks right, odd that it is a different colour to the one in the first kit...

John, its obvious when doing the belt on these which way they go and they can't really go any other way..
