MPG Issues

Morning All!!

Got issue with my 1.9 150 estate. About 3 weeks ago, my fuel has dropped from 49 to 42 MPG at best. I understand the weather is cold but this is my 4th winter with the car and didnt drop this much!! maybe to 47 which i could live with!!

I put a tank of shell Vpower diesel in at same time, maybe just coincidence, but also as well I dont think has done a regen in a while.....

Please help as my bank balance is leaking!!!!!

i wish I got 42mpg, mines showing 34mpg at the min I know it's just town driving but 34 from a derv is pants. I take it you've checked the obvious, tyre pressures etc. like you say winter makes a differance too. I'm pretty convinced my poor mpg is down to the fuel filter (same engine as yours) just need a spare min to change it.

I wish I was getting 47, mines the 120, but so far I've not got above 45, mine's also got a towbar fitted

34!! That's terrible, you carrying some extra weight u don't know about?

Does anyone have any other ideas as fuel filter was replaced 12months ago.!

Binding brakes - try pushing the car with the handbrake off, should roll easily.

Thermostat - what does your temp gauge read when driving?

Cold weather will have an affect too.

I'm in the same boat, my estate was 48-50 in the summer just done a regen and it's sitting on 42-43. Im putting it down to the weather as my lights and heaters are on a lot more now. plus it takes that little bit longer to get to a good engine temp in the mornings.

Are you guys who are getting high 40's had remaps??? Best i've had was 44-45, I did have a fuel leak from the filter when I first got the car and it was only doing 38, you could see the filter dripping from mine, but that was fixed. Is it possible the fuel mix could be too rich or leaking injectors, i've had no smoke issues, just my leaking egr cooler pipe now.

Mine was mapped and had EGR mapped out in June i think, i was running at around 42-44 MPG before my thermostat was replaced then MPG went up to about 46-47, so the map has got it up to nearly 50 BUT that's me driving around like miss daisy, leaving the car in high gear going down hills etc... I always reset one of the milage counters on the computer when i fill up, I had it running aroud 56 MPG for a few days then dropped back to 48-49
