Members have tried them and a lot have changed back to DMF's soon after.
have heard of a few single mass conversions snapping crankshafts on DTI engines

Just as a random comment, I was thumbing through a free mag I picked up at a local motor factors and there's an article about Borg & Beck solid flywheels and them having developed a long travel solid flywheel that allows for a torsion movement of up to 40%. Relatively speaking, this doesn't mean a great deal to me but maybe the designs are getting better?

    Might be worth researching further???

yeah, diesels, especially turbo diesels, produce high amounts of torque and the dmf is there to take the strain of this to protect gearbox ect

i've never seen anyone on here say 'I've got one but changed back to a DMF or I've bought one fitted it and it snapped the crank'. Always been a friend or friend of a friend or on another forum type of thing...

The solid fly on the 2.2 DTI Vec B doesnt seem to harm the f35 gearbox it connects to.

I would use a solid one no probs , taxis around here all have been converted when clutches have gone, snapping is old wives tales told by novice bar room mechanics , saying that though if mine went I would scrap the car because even though a solid conversion is safe and cheaper I aint spending out on a 52 plate Vauxhall ! HTH.
