    It's a common fault.
Mine did the same, try taking it out, taking it apart and cleaning the contacs. Worked for me

Word of warning did this fix today however tried a shortcut and dropped the switch and surround into a tub of contact cleaner rather than just removing and stripping down the switch itself . This resulted in the paint on the surround peeling off and jamming the switch up . You really need to prise the switch from the surround and fully strip it . Be careful not to loose the 2 white plastic slider pegs and it's important that the silicone membrane is put back in correctly or its rocker motion won't be correct . Glad I did it I now have a functional although not so pretty looking surround ! Replacement switches are available on eBay from about £12 .

A quick wipe with a dry cloth was all mine needed - not even contact cleaner or sandpaper
