    Default Strobing LED's

I have fitted LED sidelight and number plate bulbs but they strobe when the car is running and for about 30secs after you lock it, is there anyway to stop the strobing?

My sidelights do it with the lights off (fine when they are on) but not my number plate ones. I think it's quite cool

There would be a long winded or relay wiring answer, but it doesnt cause that much of an issue as shouldn't be visible during the day, at night you'll have your lights on...

This reminds me, i need to right a resistor thread lol...

I fitted LEDs to mine also yesterday and as said fine while driving with lights on but I have a feeling they could attract the attention of the police as when the lights are off they flash alternately with a blue tinge. I'll probably have to swap them over with the wife's car

All the resistors do is put a load on the system replicating the load a bulb would put on it so that the bulb check system thinks there's a bulb there and doesn't trigger a warning on the dash.

The strobing is caused by the low voltage pulse used by the bulb check system to check the bulbs, it's not enough to make a normal bulb light, but LED's run at a much lower voltage and respond quicker so they flash or strobe as a result of this pulse. As yet there's no way to defeat that apart from running new circuits in and running the bulbs on those.

It's never bothered me, the only ones I have LEDs in are my Angel Eye halos and I drive with side lights on all the time so they're lit anyway.

Cool - was pondering LEDs myself for exterior lights but I'll not bother now I think.

    Cheers

just a thought -using the origional live to switch the relay and battery live to run the leds does bulb check voltage not knacker the relay prematurely? thinking bulbcheck may constantly switch it on and off.

Stops the strobing but you'd get the warning, you'd still need a bulb tucked away before the relay or a resistor... I just put new 501 holders wired from the dash illumination, tucked the old ones away.
