Default Eggy smell in cabin....what could cause this?

Over the past few days I've noticed an eggy smell inside the car. Happens randomly and is worse (I think) in slow moving traffic. The first thing that springs to mind is the cat....God I hope it's not that. I have read somewhere that it could be battery related and the water needs topping up. Any ideas?

Quick check that batt isn't gasing. Which I doubt. I'd be inclined to guess at cat

Just done a bit more digging on the net and found that a few owners have reported it coming from the washer bottle and was fixed by flushing it out and refilling with new screen wash. The missus bought some screen wash the other day and so i thought mmmmmm. Been out and popped washer bottle. Very unusual smell.....maybe of eggs but definitely not nice!!! Rinsed system out a few times and now off to local motor factors to get some new stuff.
Looking on the bleak side.....gulp......what kind of money am I looking at if it is the cat? Just decided to keep this car as it's now paid for and will be using this as my car to travel to work and back. It's already stung me since that decision with the heater resistor and relay problem.....hope this car's not cursed!! Also the battery says it is maintenance free so presume I can't top up

And keep using windscreen wash - otherwise the tank is a possible breeding ground for Legionaires Disease.

Yeah i always do but she bought some crappy stuff from Asda. I've just bought some car plan stuff I always use. The bloke in the shop must have thought "Nutter!!!" when i opened it in the shop after paying and stuck my nose in the bottle going "aaaaaaaarrh nice". Will keep an eye on things now though. Can't say I've ever noticed the smell outside the car (hoping it's not the cat) and past few mornings its been standing running for about 20 minutes to warm up.

To cover all bases should I check and top up battery levels? it says maintenance free but looks like the covers can be removed with phillips screwdriver. Anyone got any experience of this with the VX batteries?

Well I've just removed the covers from the battery cells and the water level is right near the bottom. Any advice on topping up using distilled water? I can't see any maximum marks?
