Not sure of the exact temperature, but the air con will not work below a certain temperature.

The cold protection temperature for the aircon is typically 4-5c... below that the aircon is disabled.

unlike my Astra G, the aircon compresser will also not kick in - if you do not have a fan speed selected ( I have found that you also have to have a fan speed selected even if you use the quick demist button, to get it to work with the aircon)

My Astra G would switch on the fan at speed 1 if you pressed the aircon button and there was no fan speed seleted.

Think you are a bit confused mate not the fan speed but the cooling fans inside the engine bay
On my old seat cupra when i turned on the air con the smaller of the 2 fans would start to spin. But if i think if it was lower than 3 degrees then it would not come on.

On my 07 Design, yes - as soon as you turn air con on the fan ( there's only one on mine ) starts. When it didn't it was the fan control unit that was at fault - follow the wire from the fan motor back. The box you come to should be the control unit.

Mine is twin fans i quite sure the little one should spin soon as you turn the aircon on might have it checked out.
