Default Steering Wheel Controls - Kenwood HU

Slightly frustrated... Just installed the Kenwood HU into the Vectra, using the CTSVX002 control box and the Kenwood Patch Lead.

As you can see from the attached pictures, the patch lead adapter is too small for the back of the Kenwood HU.

The installation tips advise that the purple wire on the patch lead is connected to the blue/yellow wire on the stereo/HU. Would this be a case of using a scotch lock to connect the wires? lol

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated

I have no idea apart from that's a funny looking patch lead mine was just a 3.5mm plug that then had a square end going into a box for steering controls

I noticed that too, most are the 3.5mm jacks, however Kenwood use this type... There is a brown wire attached to the same pin which is ready to be connected, but to what I have no idea lol

Just to let you know, the model of the HU is a Kenwood KDC-W4544U. Having a look just now to see if it really does support steering wheel controls.

May have shot myself in the foot. Cant see anything on the Kenwood website advising that it is compatible or not with Steering Wheel controls, and also checked other websites for the model and it says its not compatible... ****!

The black connector on the HU is for a cd changer mate. Brown wire is for for telephone muting. Looking at the model you have got it doesn't have the ability to have steering wheel controls. So patch lead is redundant mate.
