I'm not familiar with the Insignia specs but I presume what you're saying is that the sat nav unit in your car is not the one that was on the specification sheet? If this is the case I'd tell them you want uit upgrading to what you have paid for or some sort of monetary settlement. Are you happy with the 500? Also what is the difference between a 500 and a 600?
vauxhall have told me the difference is an sd card slot and the 500 needs the cd in all the time so i can't use the cd player at the same time as sat nav. WHICH IS #### !!!
lee,you pre load the disc onto the 500 then remove it.how old is the car?,as the 600 came out around july last year
I think your first step should be to contact the vendor and see what they say, then if they don't offer you an acceptable resolution maybe head over to trading standards or the citizens advice bureau for advice on how to follow it up?
I made all the inquiries about the difference between the 500 and 600. And as stated the 600 uses the sd card and 500 a cd which you load to internal memory.
Annyoing I know, but of the rest of the car is upto spec, take the dispute to the dealer and ask for compensation. No idea what to ask for...? I was unsure which unit was in the car I was going to buy, but was convinced not to let it be a show stopper as the difference is so negligible. The dealer should certainly stump up.
Mine was advertised with Bluetooth, then got told it didn't. Got a nice chunk knocked off - enough to have it retro fitted! Then found out if you actually turn it on it works!!! Aidi 1 - Dealer 0.
As others have said, the CD500 Nav is CDROM based and selected maps can be downloaded onto an internal flash drive in the headunit - however, you can't download all the maps as there isn't enough space (it tells you the size of each map when you go into the download map section under config...navigation (iirc that's where it is!). Once downloaded you remove your map disc and use the cd drive for listening to music(& possibly mp3) CDs.
The Navi 600 is SD card based and that is kept in a slot under the armrest next to the USB socket & Aux In, and you still have a CD slot available in the head unit. The Navi 600 also differs in that you can program in your own POI (I think - I know the Navi 900 you can do this!) into the system.
They probably won't be able to easily replace a 500 with a 600 btw, so they probably won't go for that option! If your sales contract/receipt states the model number of the nav then you could try and get compensation - if it doesn't then it's a matter of if they are prepared to offer you some goodwill I guess!

the car is an 11 plate, the advert says sd slot and navi 600, i got it from vauxhall (bristol street motors) last week, they have told me today it says navi500 on the man-spec at production, i cant find a menu to install it or any memory options.its a small thing but it seems like they have dropped a ######.
