    Talking Newbie... we'll kind of!

    Hi ladies and gents,

Although I have been a member on this site for my years, I have not really been that active, so I guess its time to re-introduce myself.

My trusty 2001 Vec B 2.2DTI is on its last legs with 224k on the clock so I am looking to get a Signum in the new year.

Ideally a face-lift Design or Elite pref. 1.9 CDTI 150 but haven't ruled a 2.2 direct or 3.0 v6 CDTI. I need need to get as much info as possible to make a decision.

    Any advise is much appreciated.

Oh and the budget is only -/+ £3k.

If you have deep pockets and don't mind the odd visit to the petrol station go for a 2.8T or a 3.2i v6. I went for the Elite spec Siggy this time around after my last siggy Design
It all depends on what you want and what sort of driving you do!

I do about 15k miles a year so I guess this right on the petrol vs. diesel debate as to whether it worth going for a diesel.
Most of my driving is on A roads and motorway. However after having a 2.2 in an astra coupe, and a 2.2 dti in the vectra, I much prefer the torque of an oil burner.

I cannot justify going for anything bigger than a 2.0/2.2 in a petrol. A v6 is definitely out of the question.
You have also got to consider the increase in road tax as well as insurance.

Don't mind high mileage cars... its pretty much what I am used to...
As you say, most things should have gone wrong by then. If its mostly motorway mileage then its less wear and tear (so to speak)

    1990 Cav 1.8 - sold with 180k on the clock (dad's car)
1995 Cav 1.7td - died with 194k on the clock
2001 Astra coupe 2.2 - sold with 121k on the clock
2001 Vectra 2.2 dti - bought with 126 on the clock - now on 224k
