Have you checked the brake fluid level? Possible for brake fluid to be sucked through the servo and into the inlet manifold.

Not a common fault, just one that I know can cause white stinking smoke and not the first place to look. Normally you should be checking your coolant level, but I expect you have already looked at that??

Have you power washed your car and filled the exhaust with water?

Mine's been doing exactly the same the last couple of weeks (also a 2.0T), loads of white "smoke" and a really strong smell on start up. But as soon as the car's warmed up it stops. I put it down to the system using a higher choke setting because of the cold weather and more fuel going in and to condensation in the exhaust system.

I thought about that but it seems to do it when warm aswell. It was fine this morning did a 20 mile journey mainly dual carriage ways pulled up at a post box and got a whiff of something wrong drove home about 1 mile checked under bonnet for the usual leaks mixing etc but nothing wrong someone just suggested it could be a coil pack I'm going to risk driving it to him and chuck his snap on reader on it

I think that's the main difference, I'm not getting any errors logged or other issues. The error you're getting would point towards coil packs potentially so they could well be right. It's quite common for them to go on the 2.0T's
