    Default very heavy steering

Hit a pothole on Friday at probably about 40.
Looking at claiming from the council if they will accept but steering is knackered.
It feels like no power steering. Pump can still be heard.
What exactly could be damaged due to this?
It feels worse on the left side (nearside). 2.2 direct.
I have a mechanic coming to look tomorrow as I don't have the time to check the pump level which sucks.
Could this just be a pump or seal (expensive parts around this area)?
    Bearing or steering rack?
The more I look the worse I keep thinking.
When I go to drive first it feels like the is no steering. once started moving it becomes easier but feels like I am pulling a tank. It does not feel like the steering is engaging, does not seem to go all the way for a lock, can't be moved when still and feels like 1 wheel is skidding if attempting close to full lock.

I wouldnt count your chickens at gettting any money out of the council for a pothole damage claim.
Check to see if the pothole has been reported to them on the internet, think the site is called Fix My Street or Fill that Hole? Or something like that?? The pothole will also have to be over a certain depth. best of luck

Take a picture of the pothole with todays paper next to it, they often fix them when they cause damage. Happened to my Dad.

well so far on the first page I have come across 3 comments/complaints of this same road, all this year. Does that change things against claiming against the council?

Steering rack seals gone on both sides. No power steering fluid.

Ouch, wounded. Hope the council pay out for that. ****es me off the amount of road tax they take compared to the state of the roads.
