Default Help finding which engine I have

Hi, My lad owns an Astra 1.8 petrol estate automatic 55 reg - he needs a cambelt replacement but we are not sure which engine he has - its either a 18XE or a 18XER - but he is struggling to determine which he has and they have both have different belt kits - one drives the waterpump and the other doesn't.
Can anyone put me onto a site that will tell me which engine is fitted from the Vin number - I've been on the motor part sites and put the registration number in and it comes up with two alternative belt kits,

    Thanks

ISnt the 18XER the VVT engine? If so it will have the cam phaser solenoids sticking out at the front of the engine, one on the inlet cam and one on the exhaust cam?

Thanks mate - Haven't got a clue looks like one belt kit drives the water pump and the other doesn't - I was hoping someone could put me onto a site where I could put the Vin no. in and it would tell me which engine is fitted - might have a go on the Astra Owners website
