Default Vectra c loss of power

Hope someone can help. For over a year now my vectra c 54 plate 1.9dti has had issues with power. Firstly it was very occasional where when driving it would loose power for a few moments. It went into the garage on many occasions to which no results were found.

it went in for its mot a few weeks ago and on leaving the mot station it was the worst I've ever had it. It basically drives like its in limp mode.

after leaving the car with the garage over the weekend they called me to say that they had reset the errors on the computer and everything seemed to be fine.

last weeks the car did it again, I took it back into the garage to find that the turbo had gone. After shelling out £700 smackers to have my turbo reconditioned the dreaded problem has returned a lot worse than before.

it seems to loose power and go into limp mode at lease once in a journey especially if for any part of that journey I have been idle for some time at traffic lights. The only way I have found how to resolve it is when it happens to pull up. Place in neutral and rev the car constantly. Once it gets to 3k revs it's like a switch has been clicked and its back to normal. While I revving the car up between 1.5 & 2.5k revs loads of smoke comes out the exhaust.

If anyone has any ideas what thus might be I would be really appreciative. It's sending me crazy shelling out pound after pound for it when I love the car.

one thing to note, if had a new air flow meter fitted on Friday so see if this was the cause to which it still doing the same.
    thanks in advance.

Could be a split in the boost pipes or vacum pipes. Need to have a close look at all the pipes.

Split pipes will put it into limp mode.

This sounds like classic EGR valve issues, sounds like its sticking.

Easiest thing to try would be to simply unplug it, and see how the car runs - this will work if a) the EGR is at fault and b) the EGR seals nice and tight (you will get the spanner light, but don't worry, it will go out after you reconnect it).

Dependant on the fault, a faulty EGR won't always flash an error up but can cause everything you mention.

    Certainly a place to start.
