Default Buying a vauxhall is the worse Thing I've done.

My 2002 vectra c has broke down yet again! I have always had german cars as they tend to be reliable and solid bulid quality. This one time I let my gf talk me into getting a vauxhall because there cheap. Big mistake!!! I don't meant to offend the vauxhall enthusiastic's. I thought it was just my bad luck but Every mechanic I speak to said to avoid vectras like the plague! But overall vauxhall are not to reliable anyway.
I baught this car about 8months ag, it's spent most that time off road getting repaired.
So far it's had new pads & disk, cam bel, break wear sensors, all new tyers, basic wear and tear stuff. Then on top of they every thing that can go wrong with it has. I have had a new cam belt, water pump & engine rebuild due to pistons being nakard. Now the heater matrix has failed along with a thermostat sensor, it's currently being repaired. This car has overall cost me around £2000 in repairs. I've had it with this car now and once it's repaired I'm selling and getting a German car again, VW or BMW. Even tho it will prity much be a new car and fingers crossed reliable I just resent the thing now!

So have many of you also regrettably baught a vauxhall 0r are the majority of you happy with yours or Is it true they are unreliable?

All the faults you have mentioned are wear and tear u need to remember ur car is ten years old it not going to be perfect. My 2007 cdti is faultless and I love it many will say the same. All cars are the same it luck ive know bmws mercs go badly wrong and be money pits

Should of looked over it better if tyres and brakes were worn out. They are service items anyway so you could buy a £5k m5 thats got all that worn and i bet the brakes for a 5 series and 3x a vectra cost. My pads were metal so i knocked the seller down

Tbh mate i think you may have just bought a dud one, every make of car has problems not just Vauxhalls, i know a bloke who bought a brand new Audi and its spent most of its life in the garage. Youve just had a bad experience imo. Ive now had 5 vauxhalls and all have served me well now ive got a Signum and am very pleased with it.

30 months of ownership and the only things on mine that have failed has been the Thermostat and the driver seat belt. Yes I have replaced the timing belt, filters, brake pads and tyres, but thats what everyone expects to replace imo. With regards to everything you've mentioned the only thing not down to wear and tear is the knackered pistons, which tbh seems strange to me. When you say the pistons are knackered im assuming you mean the rings are gone? Whats the mileage?
