    Default Parallel parking

I'm posting this here as it seems to fit.
Just watched one of the gobby (I'm right, the world is wrong) neighbours down the road have a visitor. Middle aged lady, red Fiesta sized car, tried to get in in opposite us in a space I'd take the Vec in first time nose first (after making a pigs ear of turning round in the dead end t junction).
She backed in, got rear passenger wheel on pavement, and tried to sort it out using the 18 inches in front before she hit a 4x4 rather than try again or use the 6ft+ behind her.
After a good 5 mins of that, plus the several times she got out to go look if wheel was still on pavement, she gave up and tried to park in an even smaller space further down the road, near the house she was visiting.
Gave up on that as well, left car in middle of road, knocked at house, got man to come out and park it for her, up by us. He did it first time, she was gushing all over him like he's done something amazing, rather than a basic qualification for having a licence. Unbelievable!

My wife passed her test in 1977, me in 1976, both had 3 point turn and parallel parking included. Actually till she called me to confirm what she was seeing (disbelief) I was happily repainting some second hand Warhammer 40K Imperial Guard.
I took it as further proof that a large number of drivers on the road ae completely incompetent at everyday tasks, if it hasnt been taught since late 70's that explains a lot.

To be fair I'm having to really think about parking at the minute cos the Siggie is about 3 foot longer than my old car and it takes a bit of getting used to. It's useful tho that the back is flat so it's easy to see where the car ends.

when i was learning to drive i was not allowed to drive in i had to parallel park all the time, as a result when i was teaching a friend to try and pass her test(she failed 3 times and spent over a grand for the privelege) i would not let her drive in, i made her parallel park even if it was in a car park and guess what? no parallel parking, no 3 point turn,no parking of any discription, yep she passed and can still parallel park and i can still hear her swearing at me for making her do so
